Principal's Report - 6 February 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to St. Rita’s. We have commenced our 2025 education journey, inspiring students to learn great things, make new friends and create lovely school memories. I am so excited to welcome you all with open arms to the fabulous St. Rita’s community. It is wonderful to be with community members who I know so well, meeting new Mum’s, Dad’s, and grandparents, AND most importantly meeting the kids as they always fill your heart with GOOD VIBES! A special welcome to our new families.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Yr.5/6 class to hear the Year 6 Captain Speeches. Ms Curtis & I were immensely proud of our students, and it is evident 2025 is going to be sensational! With pleasure I share with you themes of student speeches & how they spoke of St. Rita’s;
- Welcoming and where friendships grow
- Dedication to help others to succeed
- A school built on values of community, faith, respect, learning & justice
- You become the best version of yourself
- A community of different backgrounds
- A respectful school environment
- We celebrate diversity & well-being
- An enthusiastic & welcoming school community
- Kind & compassionate school environment
- We help one another
- We offer words of encouragement
Congratulations to 2025 School Captains - Phia & Dom, Fitgerald House Captains – Ollie & Jake, and Palmerston House Captains – Grace & Isaac.
A reflection point for our school leaders based on my Naval Officer Military experience, “The most important thing I learned as a Military Officer is that soldiers/sailors watch what their leaders do. You can give them classes and lecture them forever, but it is your personal example they will follow.”
I conclude, by saying it is a pleasure to be at the helm of St. Rita’s where the positive vibes are strong amongst all and on behalf of the staff we look forward to providing the best possible educational opportunities for your child/ren.
Forward to a Better World, Mrs Bryan.
News from our Deputy Principal, Leader of Learning and Teaching/Diversity - 29 November 2024 - Copy
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to St Rita’s newsletter 2025. I hope you’ve had a wonderful school break, are excited for the new year ahead and have not gone mouldy in the last few days! It was lovely to see the excitement on the faces of our students and parents on Wednesday as we welcomed new and old families back for this year.
TIPS TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD IN SCHOOL
- Arrive at school well before 8:35 am so your child has time to organise their belongings and socialise with their friends before the bell - this helps them to be calm and ready for learning.
- Allow your child to build independence and build self-esteem by carrying their school bag in themselves - this supports students developing responsibility and accountability.
HAVE YOU DOWNLOADED THE MYCE APP!
Please download this app! It is available in the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad users and in the Google Play Store for Android phone and Tablet users. This will be the one-stop place for you to access students’ and school information, and log student absences from your phone. It will be the access for Student Report Cards. MyCE stands for My Catholic Education. This is an app that we are just beginning to use at St Rita’s, so you will see information being added as we build our knowledge of its functionality. If you require support with this, please pop into the school to see us.
Please see the Parent Information brochure using this link for more information.
NAPLAN
Year 3 and Year 5 students will sit NAPLAN, the National Assessment Program of Literacy and Numeracy tests which are scheduled for Weeks 7 & 8 of this term. Students will participate in four assessments: Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language (grammar, punctuation and spelling) and Numeracy. Once the timetable has been created we will communicate this with parents of Year 3 and 5 students.
