News from our Deputy Principal, Leader of Learning and Teaching/Diversity - 28 March 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Learning & Teaching
Professional Learning Teams - St Rita’s has a proud tradition of investing in the professional development of our staff. This commitment continues with our Professional Learning Team meetings, held each term. Next week marks our second meeting of the year, where teachers will analyse DIBELS (reading) data, plan for Term 2, moderate student writing, and share hands-on mathematics activities. These meetings always focus on student data with the goal of improving student outcomes.
NAPLAN
Our students have successfully completed all NAPLAN assessments, including Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language, and Numeracy. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff for their diligent preparation and invaluable support in helping our students prepare for these tests. Results will be distributed to families via the MyCE app, along with the new Report Cards this year.
Assessment Time
As we approach the final weeks of Term 1, our teachers and students are busy completing assessments to demonstrate their learning so far. Everyone learns differently and at their own pace, and you can be very proud of the progress your child has made over the past nine weeks.
Dive into a Book
Cherish Reading Moments with Your Child! With the Easter Holidays approaching, I wish everyone a joyful and safe Easter period. I encourage you to support your child in maintaining or building positive reading habits during the holidays.
Reading is crucial in a child's literacy journey, fostering a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem as they develop skills to engage academically, socially, and emotionally. Please refer to the infographic below to explore the benefits of reading.
Healthy Food, Healthy Minds
Creating healthy lunches for school is a wonderful way to ensure your child gets the nutrition they need to thrive. Involving your child in the process can make it a fun, educational activity, helping them learn about healthy eating habits. Plus, it gives them a sense of ownership and excitement about their meals, making them more likely to enjoy and eat their lunch. If you are looking for great recipes follow this link to the National Lunchbox Week where you can find recipes, fact sheets, guides and videos. https://www.lunchboxweek.org/?mc_cid=bd7c92dfbb&mc_eid=a842cb221f
Happy Easter and safe holidays.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Gallagher
