Dear Parents and Carers,

Many exciting developments to share with you. 

Our growth as a school is incredible, and therefore in 2026 we will move from 5 classes to 6 classes.  The community demand for our school; and the excellence we provide in academic, sporting, artistic, spiritual and connection opportunities is to be commended.  St. Rita’s staff drive these opportunities and are dedicated to their profession.  Personally, I am divinely thankful to be working with a staff who inspire me to lead an amazing school.  Credit is also due to our supportive families who work in partnership with us.  Sincere thank you.

Recently, myself, Mrs Gallagher and Ms Curits attended the Australian Catholic Education Conference which showcases the best teaching methods and ways of working in our nation & on a global scale. I proudly say that we do; and offer the best practice in student teaching & learning;  and do best practice to build a positive great school culture. So proud of St. Rita’s!

Another very special moment of this conference was the opening day mass where the Year 6 students and Ms Heaney joined us at the Cairns Convention Centre.  The mass was a packed basketball stadium.  Myself, Mrs Gallagher and Ms Curtis were beaming with pride seeing our Year 6 students. This was a memorable divine experience.  Our relationship with our students is truly exceptional when you see our interactions with each other - waving with passion and pride from the bottom level to top level of the stadium.  Therefore, two special encounters occurred at this mass; one receiving Eucharist/Blessing AND another of human joy and respect.  This is what the ‘gospel imagination’ looks like.

A special mention to those who have assisted with our school community events: dance canteen, Father’s Day night, Trivia night.  Thank you for your support as we strive to work together to fill our school community with good vibes!
