Sport News with Mr Herrmann - 17 July 2025
Hi St Rita's,
Excitement is building as we are very close to Fitzy vs Palmy Day.
As we prepare for this day, it is important that we encourage and recognise all students during these activities to put in their best efforts. At St Rita’s, we celebrate not just wins, but the hard work behind every performance and the relentless practise in PE and at lunchtimes.
Recognition reminds our athletes that their effort matters. It builds confidence, encourages growth and strengthens team spirit. Whether it’s a personal best or a display of sportsmanship, every achievement deserves applause.
This term in PE, our whole school will be focusing on ball games, including League Tag, Soccer, Basketball and Cricket. These activities will help students develop teamwork, coordination, and game-specific skills in a fun and active environment.
Year 6 students will also be preparing for the highly anticipated end-of-term Staff/Parents vs Year 6 Dodgeball game. This exciting tradition is a great way to celebrate the term’s efforts and showcase the students’ sportsmanship and energy.
This term, there are many representative sports.
- District athletics
- Netball carnivals
- Rugby league Carnival
Please stand by for more information on these sports as it gets released.
Well done to our junior and senior netball girls who competed at Fowler's Cup Carnival in Cairns for our local Innisfail netball club.

Shout out to Jaxon who completed the 5km Cairns Marathon on the weekend! St Rita's pride.
Yours in sport,
Mr Herrmann
